Entry: Xing Ge | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
I’m a cow, but I’m also a cucumber. My form can change ❤

Reflections on the Design:
I actually drew it completely based on my own personal preferences…… so I’m extremely thankful that everybody liked it. I hope I can convey my lively feelings to everyone.

image Artist: Adan
Entry: Jie Chi | Weibo | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Anou, hi minna-san, I’m the super-cool big brother Adanヾ(*・ω・)ノ゜My hobby is seducing little girlsヾ(*・ω・)ノ゜[shutup

Reflections on the Design:
Since it’s Chinese-style, the first impression is a young girl wearing [?], the fruit of China. The original Jie Chi was an archetype that I already set up; her clothes are basically the red and yellow colors of Ancient China + the blue-gray [?] of Chinese school uniforms, and black hair has always been my favorite wwww
[*not literal fruit, like how maidens are often referred to as fruits, flowers, etc]

image Artist: Nain
Entry: Lu Linghua | Weibo | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Hi everyone, I’m Linghua’s designer, Nain. It’s my first time participating in this kind of submission-based event… so please give me advice
(ノ・ω・)ノ!

Reflections on the Design:
When I was first drawing, I just wanted to draw a character completely different from Tianyi… so the original main color was red. But afterwards, after many revisions, it became the current Linghua; the final result and initial version were already two completely different people. (・ω・;) I hope everyone will like this child!

image Artist: Sleeping Fish
Entry: Liang Li Wei Yun | Baidu | Weibo

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Hi everyone~ I’m Sleeping Fish! I’m an otaku and fujoshi, really love drawing, and will ship Ping x Xie* forever~~ I hope everyone will support me! (*^◎^*)
[*Characters from the Daomu novel series]

Reflections on the Design:

Since I think that when singers are singing, they should have that kind of cool, confident appearance, this time I designed using black and white and the theme. I blended gothic and Chinese elements; I hope I gave everyone the image of a mysterious songstress. I hope everyone will support Liang Li Wei Yun~~ Thank you! Bow ↖(^ω^)↗

image Artist: Xiao Tu Shan Tian Xin Zi
Entry: Lai Xuan Wo | Weibo | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Artist who specializes in drawing shotas. Best at cel shading.

Reflections on the Design:
I wanted to express the unique characteristics of China, so I used the element of a panda. One big trait is the two different hair colors; when I first designed it I wanted it to stand out, so I did it like that. I also combined the hair and bamboo to make it even more unique~

image Artist: Furless Bunny/Mary-ko
Entry: Bianpao Niang | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
I’m a quiet yet lively girl. Since I was young I’ve loved drawing and watching anime. I really hope that when I grow up I’ll be able to work with producing and designing anime.
[*Note: Mary-ko has made illustrations for some Vocaloid PVs, which you can see at her Youtube channel here! :D]

Reflections on the Design:
Since it’s a Chinese Vocaloid, I used firecrackers to represent China’s unique traits and festivities. My original design was a cute younger sister with peony flowers, but after I heard the voice sample I changed her into a tomboy. Her final form, Bianpao Niang, has a nature like a boy’s, and her clothes represent the noble purple with gold borders of a girl.

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Here’s an overworked student w Probably in a later stage of chuunibyou? Really dumb ww So everyone hurry and gang up on me w

Reflections on the Design:
My reflections on my work.. I really liked the audio sample when I heard it so I drew this right away; that kind of mid-range voice is my favorite! When I was drawing, I was thinking and heavenly envoys should be red after all.. Though the feeling of being hit isn’t too good

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
I usually just draw some small things~ My favorite things to draw are moe girls and moe animals.

Reflections on the Design:
I was inspired by the song in the audio sample, “Mo Li Hua” (Jasmine Flower), so, based on jasmine flowers, I designed a girl who likes to sing.

image Artist: Lingjie0rz

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Hi everyone, I’m Lingjie0rz, cuttlefish’s mother 0w0

Reflections on the Design:
I just wanted to draw a Chinese-style maiden! As for the colors, I wanted to draw something kind of common yet lively [but it was obviously kind of a failure >M<

image Artist: Eleven
Entry: Wu Hua

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
I really like drawing, please treat me kindly.

Reflections on the Design:
I really wanted to try out a girl wearing flowers, so I thought up this design.

image Artist: MQ
Entry: Yan He | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Magical fairy.

Reflections on the Design:
When I first heard the voice sample, I thought it gave a very refreshing and cool image, so I thought of a beautiful maiden like a beautiful youth. If the voice and outside form are both pretty relaxed, there’s no pressure to wear men’s or women’s clothes, right?

image Artist: Xiaome
Entry: Yao Huang | Weibo | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Hi everyone, I’m Xiaome who works on anime in the morning and draws illustrations at night. I’m also known as Xiaome [*written using different characters], or Xiaomo. I love drawing bodies, especially those of maidens.

Reflections on the Design:
I was really excited when I heard about this event and that I could even participate in it. At that time after I heard the voice sample I was immediately inspired, and the main theme emerged to me as a prototype of a short-haired maiden. In order to project the feeling of a middle range yet not lacking in beauty, I chose a phoenix as the basis to go design. For phoenix, there isn’t a distinction made between male and female, and they’re the totem of the Han ethnic group, and even more so have the fame of being the king a hundred birds. I thought it matched the voice well, so I kept the elements of a phoenix and then changed and combined some things, and finally finished designing her. Her name is “Yao Huang” – the meaning is a dazzling monarch, and is an even more dazzling moral in the Vocaloid family. In order to reflect the grand feeling of a monarch, I chose gold as the main color. And finally, where’s this guy’s confidence coming from?! You guys are definitely thinking too much!

image Artist: Mr. Siyin
Entry: Yi Shuo Xiao Ge

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Otaku guy, the qualities of a good wife are a soft maiden~~ The best in my club at school, long-term staff member on Bilibili and Pixiv, loves to paint maidens and landscapes, hobby is portraying maidens’ curves

Reflections on the Design:
I’m truly very happy that I had the good fortune to be chosen as one of the finalists. I have an attachment to hair buns, so this character Xiao Ge was also inevitably branded by me. [*with hair buns] Since many generations of the Vocaloid family characters all have mechanical elements, I added a mechanical drum on her waist. The matching red and brown colors are also something that I like. I threw out a draft with the attitude of just giving it a try, and unexpectedly quite a few people voted for Xiao Ge. In short, I thank my country and my club, thank you CCAV, thank you ACG (seems like something weird was mixed in here), thank you to my fellow students’ support and encouragement, it’s just like this meow~

image Artist: Xiao Rou
Entry: Yu Yun | Weibo

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
An otaku girl who’s usually pretty dreadfully lazy + inactive + love to eat~~ Once in a while I draw some personifications and colleagues that I like~ and go out and cosplay~~ dance covers at home and so on~~~ > < I’m still slowly studying and improving~

Reflections on the Design:
The lingering sound spirals upward~~ Yu (remaining – also the Yu in Yu Yun’s name) and yu (fish) are homophones~ Fish are a symbol of good fortune in China~ Since I really like red goldfish and hair buns~~ so I drew a maiden who is as cute and lively as a small fish with graceful clothing like a goldfish ><

image Artist: Zixing Nao Bu
Entry: Yin | Pixiv

Artist’s Self-Introduction:
Hi everyone, I’m dirt. I usually like drawing dirt designed by others.

Reflections on the Design:
Coming up with a good design that matches the vocal sample – every time I raise my pen the reality is always different than what I pictured. But it doesn’t matter if it’s not completely the same, since this requires a process of improvement, and through this process the artwork can become even better.
